»Cats are happy people.«

One of the factors contributing to the happiness of cats is that they only do things that promote their own wellbeing. They intuitively monopolise the best and softest resting places (velvet cushions), delight in foods that were never meant for them (butter and cream), and buddy up to fellow-creatures that are highly disinclined to reciprocate (goldfish).

In any event cats unfailingly manage to take human beings by surprise — and perhaps that is the source of all happiness (for both parties)?
