Guntram Vesper

Guntram Vesper, born in the small East German town of Frohburg in 1941, arrived in West Germany via Berlin in 1957. In 1967 he read at the last major Group 47 conference. Vesper corresponded with numerous authors, including Johannes Bobrowski, Peter Huchel and Peter Rühmkorf. He has published numerous volumes of poetry, stories and radio plays. His opus magnum FROHBURG won the Prize of the Leipzig Book Fair, one of Germany's most important literary awards. Guntram Vesper died in October 2020 in Göttingen.
